Sport and entertainment

There is Imatran Kylpylä Waterpark (Magic Forest), a 3-minute walk from the apartments, which offers various pools, a jacuzzi, saunas and an 80-meter water slide.

And five minutes driving there is another unusual water park “Cirque de Saimaa”. That’s the whole complex where various types of saunas are presented: from the traditional Finnish to the “black” saunas or ice drums. Also, there is a sauna for kids with comfortable seats and a TV.

Next to this water park there is Angry Birds Activity Park, which is designed for both babies and older children. And as a souvenir you can make an unusual photo with funny birds!

Nearby in the local forest there is the Atreenalin rope park with a few rope tracks designed for different levels of training.

For lovers of winter sports, the Mullyumäki ski resort is located between Imatra and Lappeenranta, the place where you can go skiing, snowboarding and sledding.

Imatra is also a real paradise for fishing lovers. The most popular fishing spot is Kalastuspuisto Park on the Vuoksa River. Here you can get permission for fishing, rent a boat and all the necessary gear. It is worth paying special attention to the rules of fishing in Finland.

Most importantly – don’t forget to buy a license!

The most famous attraction of Imatra is the Imatrankoski Falls in the Kruununpuisto Nature Reserve. Some time ago it was even called "Finnish Niagara."

10 kilometers from the city there is an unusual building - the Church of the Three Crosses, which holds up to 800 parishioners. Passing by, come inside to look at the interior and pay attention to the altar.

You can get to know what was the life and culture of the inhabitants of South Karelia in the open-air museum "Karelian House". It recreated houses and court buildings that were normal for this place in the 19th century.

In the summer, we recommend visiting the retro car museum. Here you can see the various kinds of transport that were used at the beginning of the 20th century: from cars to horse-drawn carts.

On the coast of the Vuoksa River, not far from the city center, there is the Imatra City Museum and the Art Museum, where you will finally immerse yourself in the life and culture of the inhabitants of Imatra.

Shopping

Imatra offers a good selection of products, seasonal discounts and unexpected promotions.

Shopping in Imatra can be started from the main street of Kosenkenparras.

Along the street are various local shops and shopping centers. The most popular shopping center of Imatra is considered to be the center of Coscentori.

If you want to go for a bigger shopping, then it’s nice to go to the Mansikka area in the large Prisma hypermarket.

In the hypermarkets’ area, check out K-Citymarket and Rajamarket.

If you want some fish products, we recommend you to go to the most popular fish store Disas Fish, which is located on the road to the Finnish-Russian border.

There except fish a caviar you can also try traditional fish soup.
